Adjust Outlook Outbound Message Encoding
Overview
A small subset of users have reported that external
recipients are receiving strange characters in messages from Swinerton.
It is believed that the outbound message encoding setting
in Outlook may be to blame. However, due to the limited number of impacted
users, it is advised to manually adjust this setting on a per-user basis, as
needed.
Process
1. From within Outlook, click File then Options
2. Click Advanced
then scroll down to ‘International Options’
3. Check the box for “Automatically select encoding
for outgoing messages” and set the ‘Preferred encoding for outgoing messages’
to Unicode (UTF-8)
4. Click Ok
and restart Outlook
