How to Remove an Asset
***If you need to re-issue an asset that you are removing from an employee, use the Transfer Asset task instead***
Use case:
This task should be used to remove an asset from a worker when it's not needed anymore and there's no need to issue to another worker. An asset may need to be removed if it was lost or stolen, if it was registered in error or if an employee is terminating and there's no need to re-issue the asset in the future. Once the asset is removed with this task it cannot be re-issued but can be copied.
STEP 1: Log into Workday
STEP 2: Locate the asset that you want to remove. You can locate the asset from the worker's profile or from the "SWIN - Find Assets" report
STEP 3: Once you've located the asset, hover over the Asset ID until this icon appears:
This opens up some actions. Choose Business Asset > Remove Asset
STEP 4: The following fields are required:
a. Enter the effective date of the removal
b. Choose a reason for removing the asset
c. Enter a comment/notes related to the removal of the asset
STEP 5: Click [Submit].
The asset has been removed and is no longer in use, and cannot be re-issued.
To see Removed assets, run report "SWIN - Find Assets" and prompt on Asset status = Removed
