Updating to Windows 10 22H2
As part of our ongoing efforts at securing our workstations, all employees will be required to update their version of Windows 10 to the latest version, called Windows 10 22H2. BTech has been testing pilot groups across various divisions for the last quarter to verify that this update should not impact employee's workflows outside of a timed reboot and installation cycled that will take a little longer than normal.
If you're on Windows 11, you do not need to perform any of the steps outlined in this article.
To manually update your Windows 10 computer, you will need to follow the below steps:
1. Open the Windows Start Menu. You can do this by clicking the button with the Windows logo in the bottom-left corner of your screen. You can also press the button with the Windows logo on your keyboard.
2. Then click Settings. This is the button with the gear symbol just above the power button. This will cause a new window to pop up.
3. Next, click Update & Security.
4. Click "Check online for updates from Microsoft Update"
5. You will know you need to update your computer if there is an Install Now button. You might also see the update start downloading immediately. However, even if you see Windows is up to date, you might still be able to update your computer. Once you select either option, your computer will start downloading the update automatically and you should see the 22H2 update listed as Feature update to Windows 10, version 22H2
6. Next, wait for the update to be installed. This might take some time, depending on how many updates you need to be installed and how large they are. You should see a percentage below each part of the update that lets you know how much longer you will have to wait and eventually it will prompt you to Restart now. Restart your computer and wait for the update to apply, which may take some time. You will know your computer is good to go when it it’s back on the login screen. Enjoy!
