Create a New Daily Journal (Construct PM)
__________
Introduction
Step-by-step instructions creating a new Daily Journal in CMiC.
Note: Daily Journal entries can be created for the current date, up to 7 days in the past, or up to 7 days in the future.
Note: Recommended practice is to have no more than 7 open/unsubmitted Daily Journal entries at any given time. Click here to learn how to filter for PENDING entries.
__________
Steps
1. In Project Management, open the Site Management section in the treeview and click on Daily Journal.

2. Click Create Journal.

3. You can begin filling it out as follows:
a. Prepared By: This will default to your name as the author. This can be changed by clicking the 'x' next to your name and choosing another contact from the project.
b. Creation Date: This defaults to the current date, but can be modified by clicking the calendar icon.
c. Weather: Click the Set Weather button and it will automatically pull in the weather information for that day, based on the location of the project in Project Maintenance. If you're adding a Journal entry for a past date, clicking this button will pull historical weather data to match the date.
d. Potential Weather Impact Type: You can select the type of weather impact, if applicable, from this list.
e. Activity: This is where you will enter general activity information for the project on that date. (DO NOT put a list of subs and/or man count here, they will be entered later)
f. Inspections: Enter any inspections that occurred.
g. Deliveries: Enter any deliveries that occurred.
h. Delays / Impacts: List any items that may have delayed or impacted work. Be sure to include PCI numbers if applicable.
i. Field Directives / Extra Work: Enter any new Directives or extra work to be performed. Be sure to include PCI numbers if applicable.
j. Overtime: Enter any overtime performed.
k. Visitors: Enter any visitors to the project site.
4. If you have any attachments that need to be added to the Journal entry, you can do so by clicking Add Attachments near the bottom. This will allow you to choose from local files on your computer, already uploaded items in the Documents section, or directly attaching Drawings.
5. Once done with the primary information, click the three dots in the top, right-hand corner, then click Save As Draft.

6. This will save the Journal entry, and take you back out to the Journal log. Click on the entry to return to editing.

7. If you are complete with this entry, you can click Submit and you are done. Otherwise, continue with the instructions below for entering Manpower and Trade Equipment items.
8. If you need to enter Manpower on this Journal entry, click on the Manpower tab, then Add Entry. Otherwise, go to Step 11 for other items.

9. On the Manpower entry form, enter any relevant information about the company, number of workers, hours worked, etc., then click Save.

10. Your Manpower entry is now added to the Journal. If more Manpower items are needed, repeat the same process as necessary.
11. Repeat the same method of entry for Trade Equipment information as needed.
12. Once complete, click Submit to wrap up this Daily Journal entry.
